One of my poker related predictions for 2015 is that Chris Moorman will recapture the coveted world number one spot in the PocketFives.com online poker rankings. I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that the superstar is about to embark on journey that will see him soar to the top of online poker’s most popular leader board.
Moorman is currently en route to Australia for the Aussie Millions festival and, no doubt, plenty of fun and frolics, but before he jumped aboard the big iron bird, Moorman managed to reach the money places in more than 40 tournaments this past week, a sign that Moorman is putting in immense volume when he’s at his grind station and when a player with the quality of Moorman plays a lot of poker the result always follow.
The largest cash by Moorman this week weighed in at $11,328, his reward for finishing second in the 888poker $50,000 Turbo Mega Deep. Moorman also helped himself to a brace of third place finishes in the $82 NL Hold’em 6-Max Hyper ($1,746) and the $265 NL Hold’em Knockout ($3,525) and a runner-up finish in the $55 Saturday PL Omaha ($2,287) all at PokerStars.
Moorman is now only a single point away from knocking Rick Trigg from second place in the UK standings, although he is still some 816 points away from current runaway leader Patrick Leonard.
Another man heading in the right direction is the talented York youngsterConor “1_conor_b_1” Beresford. Victories in the $51 NL Hold’em Hyper Turbo ($3,367) and the $320 NL Hold’em 6-max ($7,112) followed two third place finishes in the $55 NL Hold’em 6-Max Turbo ($2,283) and $82 NL Hold’em 6-Max Hyper ($3,367) all at PokerStars.
Beresford is now up to 11th in the UK rankings and climbed to 108th in the world and we don’t think it will be too long until he reaches, and then goes past, his career-high of 54th in the world.
